Why Board Certification Matters
Whether you’re mulling over the decision to undergo plastic surgery or you’re just about to book the procedure, you’ve probably spent a lot of your time thinking about the surgery you want to undergo.
But what about the plastic surgeon who’s performing the surgery?
No matter what type of surgery you’re considering, it’s important to place your health in the hands of a board-certified plastic surgeon. Board certification means that the plastic surgeon has gone through a rigorous process that includes peer vetting, patient testimonials, and a proven track record of contributing research to the plastic surgery community. Board certifications are hard to get; only the best of the best are board-certified, so when a plastic surgeon has this credential under his or her belt, you can be sure he or she will provide you with the very best patient experience.
And let’s face it – your health shouldn’t be in anyone else’s hands but the very best!
How to Find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Not sure how to check if your plastic surgeon is board certified?
Make sure that your surgeon carries a board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and/or the American Society of Plastic Society (ASPS). Many subpar plastic surgeons will seek board certifications from other official-sounding organizations to sound impressive but don’t be fooled. Those two organizations are the ones you need to pay attention to, so ask to see this certification if you can’t find it on your plastic surgeon’s website.
